Captain Cumbia and Pedrolito Radioglobal show the great joy to be had with music production and performance. They wrapped up their big soundclash cumbia contest this past week. Here is a rather excellent epilogue.

The battle royale has finally reached it’s zenith. Starting 12 rounds ago the eccentric cumbia master of the French party scene Captain Cumbia called out the equally masterful colleague in crime of his Pedrolito to battle in a soundclash cumbia contest.
During the grueling 12 rounds we’ve seen Captain Cumbia release some of his most exciting work in attempt to shoot Pedrolito down. Pedrolito answered in turn with a brilliant onslaught of his own mixtapes. This article, this post, this literary “masterpiece”
KRIMINAL dangerously decided to become an official war journal archiving all the battles that ensued.

ROUND 12
Pedrolito struck first on the last round with his mix of some greats like Spike Devil Disco, Dragao Style, Cumbia Tokeson, Snow Balderas, DJ Negro Dub, Daniel Fridell, Systema Solar and La Delio Valdez all whom I’ve posted individually about either here or on Sexxy Saturday Cumbia.
Captain Cumbia’s riposte was a surprising mashup dopeness of Tupac’s California Love with the rico sounds of cumbia.
As I teased with my ‘?’ above this most definitely cannot possibly be the end. Could it be? Rest assured there are more exciting contests to come, contests where they will reach out to fellow cumbiamberos for participation. And yes KRIMINAL will be here to archive it all as it happens.
Captain Cumbia comes this week with a Klezmer from the Amsterdam Klezmer Band mashed together with Home T & Cutty Ranks & Cocoa Tea. Also don’t forget Captain Cumbia’s cumbia touch with his weapons the keytar, guitar, keyboard and vocals. Reggae, Klezmer and cumbia never sounded so good together.
Pedrolito won’t stand by without riposte! In his arsenal one finds tracks from Den5hion, Albert DJ, La Sonora Irreal, La Inedita, Lost Master Plus among others.
Pour tous les aficionados de la mouvance « nueva cumbia »,
vendredi 6 avril à partir de 21h, direction l’International, située au cœur du quartier d’Oberkampf [Paris 11], pour une fiesta muy « Tropical ».
En tournée internationale où ils présentent leur nouvel album « Manshines », FAUNA [Argentine] du label ZZK, devenu l’un des acteurs les plus influents de la scène Argentine, offre une cumbia à mi-chemin entre le dub, le dubstep, et autres ritmos digitales.
En ouverture de soirée, le duo LOS DIABLOS SANTOS de la Cumbia à Paris : Captain Cumbia [France] & Pedrolito [Franco-Argentin]. Sur scène, leur « Labo-Cumbiero » est à mis chemin entre le live-set, la selecta et le concert : Captain Cumbia au chant, accordéon, guiro et keytar ; Pedrolito aux machines et des invités musiciens et toasters. Au programme : traditionnelle, chicha, sonidera, villera, digitale, …, original mashups & edits de leur cru.
Pour finir la soirée, le dj/producteur de la scène Tropical parisienne, résident des légendaires soirées Ghetto Tiers Monde, GRANDPAMINI [Franco-Chilien], prendra le contrôle avec son tour du Monde explosif et festif où il mélange ses prod’s, pépites de la Cumbia, kuduro et Merengue de la Caille.
Une soirée haute en couleurs qui vous démangera forcément les guiboles.

Captain Cumbia just released a cumbia-mashup from a Gorillaz track:
After listening to the bootleg, Pedrolito (selector from radioglobal.org in Paris) started to make fun of his music... So Captain Cumbia decided to challenge him and started a cumbia soundclash!
Rules: Captain Cumbia has to produce one mashup or edit a week and Pedrolito has to perform a 30 minutes mixtape weekly!
